Today, EDEX Expo which embraces the vision "To Empower Sri Lankan Youth to Be Globally Competitive"is the only twin mega exhibition on a national scale held in Sri Lanka in Colombo and Kandy annually. The Presidential Secretariat, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour Relations and Manpower, and Ministry of Vocational and Technical Training have endorsed the event in recognition of the objectives and the close alignment of the vision of EDEX with government policies.
Growing with the participant and visitor numbers year on year, its recognition reached beyond the shores of Sri Lanka attracting a large number of foreign direct participants. EDEX Expo, the National Higher Education and Careers Expo is now the single largest nationwide platform connecting Sri Lankan youth with Choices, Options and Opportunities in the post-secondary, graduate and postgraduate fields, technical and vocational training leading to gainful employment.
EDEX Expo will feature three main pavilions, which include Domestic Education, International Education, and Careers/Recruitment, encompassing various opportunities in post-secondary, diploma, graduate and post-graduate fields.
Overseas participants representing universities and higher educational institutes from over 16 countries such as United States of America, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, Russia, Japan, Bangladesh, India, Thailand, China, Nepal, Switzerland, Cyprus, France, New Zealand, Malaysia and United Arab Emirates
Spot admissions to over 350 foreign universities and various academic institutions will be facilitated 'on site.' These representatives will apprise applicants of procedures for awarding full or partial scholarships
Career guidance seminars and counselling centres conducted for the participants throughout the duration of the exhibition
Walk in interviews for job recruitments will be carried out by leading private sector organisations including local and foreign banks
Seminars on generic and industry-focused topics will be delivered which are likely to be of immense value in choosing a career path
Training and career opportunities in IT/BPO sectors will also be showcased in a special pavilion in Colombo
EDEX web portal www.edex.lk, being linked to over 500 'Nenasala' Internet kiosks and over 1000 government secondary schools through 'Schoolnet' also provides valuable web resources useful for senior students, school leavers, job seekers and those seeking alternate higher educational opportunities in Sri Lanka and overseas.
